Kendall to Deerfield Beach, What a Day

"Oh you TRAVEL travel?" is a question someone asked me earlier this week. I guess repeating and emphasizing a certain word adds more drama to the statement. After laughing and answering yes to the question, I'm proud to say I don't mind driving, listening to music or podcasts, and being stuck in Miami traffic. Knowing I'm en route to capture a family's special moment or occasion or I'm about to create some great content with a model or two is always a great feeling. Heading South-West to be in a Forrest setting and then driving North to hit the beach for a photo shoot will never get old because I'll always be capturing something new.

Having my mindset on a 'Forrest type vibe" for the shoot threw me off because after driving into Kendall Indian Hammocks Park I didn't see any areas that looked similar to a Forrest. As I drove deeper into the park I saw a skateboard court partly filled with all kinds of skaters, a couple of baseball fields with softball games going on, and I even saw a disc golf course and people were actually participating, so I saw basically saw everything but the Forrest. Boy was I in for a treat. After meeting up with Ellie (the model for the shoot) she told me that there's a path that eventually leads up to the area that was previously discussed. After following her lead and talking about the upcoming photo shoot, I was greeted by a loud buzzing sound racing across my right ear and after searching for the sound I saw a spider web with a banana spider the size of a baseball planted in the middle of it. I laughed (a little from nervous panic because whatever it was sounded big and let's be real that's a big spider) but then I realized the environment I was in and became grateful. The path we followed led us to a crossroad of trails where we took the first left and walked to a nice green space to start the shoot. The environment complimented Ellie's theme; she brought a beautiful head piece draped in flowers that went well with her navy blue and red floral dress. After taking pictures with and without the head piece in that one area, we transitioned to a new spot to capture different poses and angles. Every once in a while during the photo shoot there were people walking up and down the trail we were shooting on so I knew there were more spots to discover, but the shots and pictures that were taken already were enough for Ellie and I to be satisfied with. After shooting for an hour we begin to follow the trail back to the beginning and as I walked I saw even more areas I was eager to take pictures at, but I realized that even though it first time shooting at Kendall Indian Hammocks Park it definitely wouldn't be my last.

"My Mommy Said Yes!" was the theme for this next photo shoot. After my shoot in Kendall, I hit I-95 and drove up North to Deerfield Beach where I had the privilege to capture an engagement/family photo shoot with this awesome family! Since it's Spring Break, Deerfield beach was pretty packed and it was my first shoot in that particular area so I was in unfamiliar territory. Nevertheless, having done plenty of photo shoots throughout the years, and finishing a photo shoot an hour or two ago, I was confident this was going to be an amazing shoot. "Stay ready so you don't have to get ready" is an affirmation I like to repeat and when I met Thomasina, Jay, and Zay I ready for the shoot and so were they. Thomasina was dressed in a beautiful white and pink floral dress while the boys were fitted in a white shirt and blue jeans. As we began taking the family photos, Zay held up a sign written "My Mommy Said Yes" in blue chalk as Thomasina and Jay began to smile and pose. After some family photos we focused more on the couple shots; Thomasina and Jay smiling together, Jay planting kisses on Thomasina's forehead, and I even got some nice candid shots of Thomasina laughing at Jay's jokes. After those set of pictures we captured some shots of just the boys and of course we took some solo shots of Thomasina posing on the beach, showcasing her beautiful smile and her ring! We ended the shoot on a great note, getting some final shots of the family posing together to cap off the start of a new chapter in their lives. Having a full day booked of photo shoots is something I'm always excited for and it's always fun knowing that I've snapped someone's highlights or captured a family's special moments even if I had to travel a great distance from one shoot to the other. God bless, thank you for reading, and I'm looking forward to next time.
