Long Time No Post

I can't tell you if it was laziness or procrastination (psst...it was both) that delayed me from making another blog post. Regardless of the answer, it feels good to write and update you all on what's been going on in my life. A lot has happened since my last post, protests going on in various cities around America, Americans being affected in some way, shape, or form by the COVID-19 crisis, and just getting used to a "new normal" with social distancing and wearing a mask. With all of that being said, I've been safe and active; Doing numerous photo shoots, a handful of events, a few collaborations and I take pictures for an organization based here in Miami where our goal is to spread love by giving back to those less fortunate. Let's recap what's been happening:

Whether shooting in Downtown for a wedding engagement/maternity shoot, a sweet 16 shoot in Miami Beach, a baptism in North Miami Beach, a clothing line shoot in Coconut Grove, a wedding in Homestead, a birthday shoot in Perrine, another Sweet 16 in Broward, and a few other shoots, I was all over Southern Florida capturing moments and poses. Right on the Courthouse steps is where I took one lovely couple's photos. Using the tall pillars of the structures to capture the depth of field of the photo you can also see the depth of their love as one plants a kiss on the other's cheek or with them simply holding hands. We then shifted to Maurice A. Ferre Park where we ended the shoot with the Miami channel and downtown in their background. A few days later, I met up with a client and her daughter on South Beach to capture some vivid sweet 16 photos. Being from Houston but visiting Miami before, the mother wanted her daughter's first time in Miami to be special and memorable and I was there to capture it all. We started on Ocean Drive, posing and getting candid shots close to the strip and then we shot some more as we made our way to the beach. The birthday girl switched up her fit and capped off the photo shoot in the Miami waters.

It's always nice seeing family and friends come together for a special event. When large gatherings were allowed, I was thankful to be hired to photograph a wedding for a young couple. Capturing the special kiss after the words "I do" are spoken or snapping the moment the wedding knife slices through the cake is always a great feeling. A few weeks later, even with everything going on as far as changes in the public, I was able to capture another sweet 16 for another mother and daughter. This little family made sure they emphasized the word 'sweet' with the help of candy props and treats to fit their candy-land theme. The birthday girl even had a life-sized Barbie box to mesh with the theme since she was, as her mom put it, "A Barbie." With photo shoots, events, and even attending two protests in between of all of this I was thankful to keep active and stay busy. With everyone living in such weird times, the urge to give back someway, somehow, was on the heart of a friend of mine and soon after he put his care into action. With a call from him and a few days of planning, he gathered up myself and another mutual friend to make burritos in his kitchen to distribute to the homeless in Wynwood. A few weeks later, 3 people turned into 5 which eventually turned into more and now once a week a small amount of us gather together to make care packages for the less fortunate. Who would've thought a gathering that started with three people and over 20 burritos could grow into something that's making a local and positive impact on the community. And who knows, maybe one day it can become national.

I'm looking forward to updating you all on my next blog post. This time I'll try not to take as long haha. As always, thank you for reading, stay safe, and God bless.
