The month February was just as busy as January and I couldn't be more happy and grateful about that! I had nothing but momentum heading into last month and I was ready to build on it and keep it going! From shooting a surprise retirement party in Coral Gables, to posting up against graffiti marked walls, to capturing fun times with at a dinosaur themed birthday party, my camera and I was active and busy all month and I can't wait to walk you through it all.

I've worked with this family before; Capturing maternity and baptism pictures, a birthday party, a baby and bridal shower, and this time I'd be capturing one of their family members retirement party. The party took place at The Globe located in Coral Gables. Once I got there I started to snap detailed shots of the room; capturing the "Congrats Ivan" retirement banner, taking pictures of the cigars and dominos that decorated the tables, and capturing candid shots of family and friends as they arrived and prepared for the night. After an hour or so the word was going around that the VIP was arriving shortly, so I began to prime my camera as I watched tipsy adults try to get quiet and position themselves for the big moment. As soon as the doors opened and the word "Surprise" were shouted aloud in English and Spanish, Ivan's face lit up with a smile and then with joyful tears as his wife walked over to him to greet him with a hug and kiss. After that, Family and friends walked over to Ivan, taking pictures and congratulating him on his major accomplishments and I was there to capture the memorable moments on camera until the party was over.

  Looking at all of the graffiti and art as we approached the beginning of Wynwood (2nd Avenue and 20th Street), CJ said "Let's go create some art Los" and we fist bumped to concur his statement. Shortly after parking and entering the location for the 'PaybyPhone' app we went straight to work on having a productive and successful photo shoot. As I made my way across 2nd Avenue, changing my camera settings at the same time, CJ was positioning and posing in front of a huge TESOE wall art depicting the "Monopoly Man" holding sacks of cash. After a nice period of time there we made our way closer to Wynwood, taking the back streets and finding even more dope art pieces and even walls CJ could climb up to sit and pose on. Even though we were in Wynwood we discussed that we didn't want to shoot in the 'cliche areas' like Wynwood Walls, so we stayed on the side streets, eventually walking the perimeter of Wynwood, not only finding art, being creating and adding to it as well.

"ROAR!!! It's my 1st Birthday!" is the sign you'll read before entering this lovely home to celebrate a fun and memorable occasion. It's an honor and a blessing to capture one's memories through my camera. As I took pictures of the dinosaur cake, the decor of the house, and the Jurassic setup in the backyard I reflected on the time I captured Megan's baby shower when her son was just the size of a pineapple. Time flies and there I was capturing candid shots of their family members and friends! The family had face painting for the kids (even though some adults wanted some art) and they even had a guest appearance from an 'Adult-Sized' T-Rex (talk about a cool uncle!). All-in-all it was a great experience and I'm happy I caught the love and joy for a special occasion on such a special day on camera. Even though February was a short month I'm glad I was able to snap and capture moments and pictures that'll last forever. Thank you for reading my blog, here are some pictures to recap February!
