What a weekend! I definitely have to get in the habit of knowing my photo shoot details to the very minute...literally. On Friday I thought I had a shoot starting from 11 am to 1 pm...boy was I wrong. But hey, I’m learning how to “Fail Forward” and I made the best of my morning. I also found out my phone is really water proof (for some reason I was skeptical) but I’ll save those details for later. Let me tell you how that morning started.

To begin, I thank God for good friends. Joshua, a middle school friend of mine who’s also referred to as JoJo, stopped by my neighborhood to chill and hang out. After telling JoJo about my blunder dealing with the time of the photo shoot that morning, we decided to travel to Alice Wainwright Park located in Coconut Grove Miami, Florida to have a fitness shoot. After about 20 minutes we decided we want to relocate but we would have to cross an obstacle that hovered over water (the park is right by the ocean!)

And that’s when it happened, as I was transitioning under the obstacle, JoJo and I heard a splash in the water. After the bubbles cleared up, there it was, my iPhone X laying face down 2 feet in the ocean. I picked the perfect day for low tide. So what do I do, I dove after it of course (I actually took my time and made sure no other valuables were going to get wet and I jumped in). After getting in and out to retrieve my phone, I opened some apps and made some calls to make sure my phone was still working, and my worries were diminished when everything was a-ok.

Saturday was pretty awesome. It’s not every day someone calls me for an animal photoshoot but animals are part of the family as well and they need their pictures on a wall too! Benz and Buddha are definitely part of an awesome family and Benz’ owner Willie is a good friend of mine (also from middle school) so being their photographer for this shoot was a privilege. I’ve always wanted to do a shoot in a small area with minimal distractions so Steele Mini Park located in Coconut Grove was a great location. Now what I didn’t tell you is that Benz is still young so he’s still getting the hang of things as far as being distracted and Buddha, well Buddha is Buddha. Regardless, the photoshoot came out better than Willie and I both expected! I was able to capture some awesome candids while the dogs were, you know, being dogs at the park and with the help of Willie we were able to keep them still for a couple of poses.

To wrap the weekend up, I had a photo shoot today and for the first time I worked with Caro. We decided we wanted to have a “Sunday brunch vibe” for the photo shoot and The Shops of Merrick Park located in Coral Gables was the perfect location. The weather and lighting was perfect and the people there were pretty respectful as far as avoiding the accidental photo-bombs. Caro and I made our way around the shops, using the scenery and weather to our advantage as we captured vibrant and colorful shots. All in all I would say I had a pretty successful weekend and if you’re reading this right now, I definitely hope yours were successful as well. Thank you once again for reading my blog. Till next time, be happy, be healthy, be blessed.
