I once read that November is the Thursday of all the months and I couldn't agree more with that statement. In my opinion, Thursday is used as the transition from the work week to the weekend in which some people look forward to and are excited about. If you have side hustles and other business endeavors going on in your life, then Thursday is just another "Rise & Grind" day for you. November is the same way; People automatically think about Christmas and Christmas gifts, commercials air with the "Jingle Bell" tone, and you even see people decorating their houses with Christmas lights. After Halloween, people bring their attention to December, then it's a little stint with Thanksgiving for a couple of days, and then back to December. But we can't overlook November, I know I can't. November opened new doors in my photography journey as I found myself taking pictures on the beach for a Praise Team, court side at a basketball game in Broward, and taking pictures of family, friends as well as being in front of the camera for my own photo shoot.
This group is always filled with laughter and joy! Located in Coconut Grove is the Saint Matthew Missionary Community Baptist Church (Which happens to be my home church as well) who's Pastor is Rev. Ford. Their Praise Team lead by Brother Jimmy Brown wanted some photos for their upcoming church musical and it was an honor to provide my services to them. We took group pictures, pictures of only the ladies and guys in their respected groups and we also got shots of the Pastor and Team leader by themselves. The pictures took place on the beach by the Rickenbacker Causeway located close to Coconut Grove and it was the perfect atmosphere and vibe to capture telling photos.
Jay-Z rapped "Ball so hard they wanna fine me...but first they gotta find me." Traveling to Broward to attend this basketball game is where I found Florida National University's number 23, Josua, putting up warm up shots, rallying his teammates before the game, and bursting through the opposing team on a fast break. Getting action shots from the baseline (Area of the court under the basket) and in the stands was a cool experience because it was my first time capturing a basketball game. Although it was my first time, I was confident in my ability to capture the moment and provide great services during the basketball game. If number 23 was playing lock-down defense on his opponent or if he was catching his breath for the next possession during a foul shot, I was there to capture it all.
Lastly, I ended the month on a great note. Every other holiday I visit Palm Coast, Florida (20 Mins North of Daytona Beach, Florida) to visit my father's side of the family. Besides getting full from all of the Turkey, Yams, and Mac & Cheese I ate during Thanksgiving, it was amazing being surrounded by family, friends of family, and all of the positive energy and auras wherever I went. This year during my visit, I also found myself stepping in front of the camera for my own mini photo shoot. Palm Coast has a few points of interest that I enjoy visiting and after driving around to find a couple of them, my cousin and I took a few shots and the rest were history. I hope you had an amazing November surrounded by good vibes and loved ones and I hope December is the "Cherry on top" to an amazing year for you. Let's end 2018 on a positive note. Like always, thank you for reading and God bless!
