They say yoga is good for the body, mind, and soul and last week I was able to witness and capture some great yoga work at display. The entrance of Matheson Hammock Park provided some good scenery and it made for an awesome yoga playground. This model went from balancing against a tree, to posing in one, and if she wasn't walking and striking a yoga pose on a wooden fence she was upside down balancing on her elbows as her body bent against gravity.
I've worked with Yenifer before in the past so this yoga shoot would just be a continuation of good vibes and shots. This time around it was different because instead of only two minds coming up with poses, Yenifer's boyfriend Stephen was there to add value and bring new ideas to the table. Once we parked and made our way to the first spot in the park, Yenifer went to stretching, Stephen started coming up with some dope ideas for yoga poses, and I made sure my camera was good to go for a great photo shoot.
One of first poses Yenifer wanted to capture was a standing pose called 'Bird Of Paradise'. I started taking pictures as soon as she squatted to position her arms under her left leg and I didn't stop till she was standing tall and firm in her pose. We captured that pose twice and with the call-out by Stephen Yenifer switched and posed in the 'Extended Warrior 1' position; taking deep breathes and keeping her body still for the shot. As we walked throughout the park we saw palm trees that Yenifer and Stephen posed on and next too as well as a nice green space that was used for some poses such as "Downward Dog" and "Mermaid". Towards the ending of the photo shoot we found a dead tree stomp for Yenifer to pose on. Up to that point, Yenifer did almost every pose that came to mind, so to end the shoot she decided to freestyle her pose; lifting her right leg all the way up and resting her face on her right thigh and placing all of her body weight on the left ball of her foot. To wrap things up, all-in-all Yenifer, Stephen and I had a fantastic session, capturing some dope and wonderful poses and using our setting to compliment the photo shoot. Check out some of the photos from the shoot below and thank you once again for reading my blog! I'm looking forward to writing about my next shoot, God bless and have a wonderful day!
